A 32-year-old patient with type II diabetes came into the office complaining of some trouble breathing and staying energized throughout the day. Knowing that there is cardiovascular risk to patients with type II, bloodwork was run. What tests would you look at other than blood panels? The patient was advised to begin a healthy diet and to begin exercising to reduce cholesterol levels and manage insulin resistance. He was advised to reduce saturated fat intake quickly to see if it would help make a difference. Would you advise any diet in particular?
