Update on Minimalist TAVR Care Pathways: Approaches to Care in 2022 - Current Cardiology Reports
Source : https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11886-022-01737-x
Purpose of Review This review summarizes current data supporting a minimalist TAVR approach and identifies the need for additional study to optimize TAVR care. The authors discuss future directions of...
Summary: The minimalist care pathway avoids general anesthesia, shortens procedure time and length of stay, and reduces cost without changing mortality or readmission rates at 30 days. A variety of protocols have been proposed without a clear consensus on specific components or patient eligibility. There is a continued need for data regarding...
The role of mechanical valves in the aortic position in the era of bioprostheses and TAVR: Evidence-based appraisal and focus on the On-X valve - PubMed
Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35738422/
Patients who need a prosthetic aortic heart valve may decide, working with their cardiologist and cardiac surgeon, among a variety of options: surgical or transcatheter approach, bioprosthetic or mechanical valve,...
Conclusion/Relevance: The choice of prosthetic valve should be individualized, carefully considering each patient's unique circumstances. In that context, the On-X aortic valve offers a potential lifetime solution without need for a repeat operation, while minimizing the risks of long-term anticoagulation. In an era of enthusiasm for...
Serum and Vascular Stiffness Biomarkers Associated with the Severity of Degenerative Aortic Valve Stenosis and Cardiovascular Outcomes - PubMed

Conclusions: Our study indicated that ET-1 and Gal-3 levels may be associated with the outcomes in patients with DAS.
Rationale and design of the Project to look for early discharge in patients undergoing TAVR with ACURATE (POLESTAR Trial)
Source : https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1553838922003013?via=ihub
Limited prospective evidence is available on early discharge pathways with the ACURATE transcatheter heart valve * The POLESTAR trial is an international, multi-center, prospective, observational study which aims to evaluate...
Summary: The POLESTAR trial prospectively evaluates safety and feasibility of an early discharge protocol for TAVR using the ACURATE Neo THV.
Center Valve Preference and Outcomes of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: Insights From the AMTRAC Registry
Source : https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1936879822009268?via=ihub
Data on outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) using balloon-expandable valves (BEVs) or self-expandable valves (SEVs) as well as the impact of center valve preference on these outcomes are...
Conclusions: Periprocedural outcomes, aortic regurgitation greater than mild, and 2-year mortality are worse when TAVR is performed using SEVs at BEV-dominant centers. Outcomes are similar regardless of valve type at SEV-dominant centers. The present results stress the need to account for this factor when comparing BEV and SEV outcomes.
